Frequently Asked Questions

What is this blog all about?

  -  A 20-something rambles about her life and adventures...

  • Currently: while livin' the dream as a graduate student in Kansas
  •  Past:
    • while serving as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Chemnitz, Germany
    •   while spending her junior year abroad in Tübingen, Germany

This blog basically serves three functions:
          1) Keeping all my family and friends up-to-date about all of my shenanigans
          2) Providing a space where I can journal all of said shenanigans
          3) When I'm abroad, keeping me from going crazy and forgetting English words like "crooked" or "dishsoap"

What does "Travels With Simba" mean?

    - Short Answer:  I still have a soft spot for my favorite children's movie, The Lion King.  I apologize for nothing.

    -  Long Answer:  When I was about seven years old, my family moved to Germany for two years.  My carry-on was an enormous stuffed animal of Simba and I was traumatized when he had to go through the X-Ray machine.  Fourteen years later, during my junior year of college, I spent another year in Germany and this time brought another (much smaller) Simba along.  Now, yet again, I'm taking that same little Simba back with me during my Fulbright Year in Germany.

Why is your URL travelwithsimba.blogspot and not travelswithsimba.blogspot?

    -   Although I pride myself on my wit and originality, apparently someone beat me to it.  So don't get the two confused unless you want to read the blog of a couple with a cat who hasn't updated since 2008.

Why do you have page (and a tag!) called "Tübingen Adventures"?

    -   For your convenience and edification, I've put all my junior year memories into a handy page!

How can I make sure I never miss an update from the Blog?

    -  On the Home page, you can sign up for email notifications or you can "Like" the Blog on Facebook!

There's a lot of pink on this page!

    - I apologize for nothing.  Enjoy the sparkly mouse cursor too, my friend.
