Could Have Only Happened To Me

Dearest followers,

I was going to update you on the long-since-hence Ireland trip (Part II: Electric Boogaloo) and add in a little addendum about my new hair cut, which at the time, I had assumed would be stinkin' cute.

And then you guys would think it was cute and I would think it was cute and everything would be cute.

So cute, like a kitten.

With a hat.

LOOK AT ITS LITTLE TAIL.
AND LITTLE FACE.

So, without further ado:

The Story of Hannah & the Haircut
As adapted by Yours Truly
in the style of the Brothers Grimm
with photographic illustrations

Once upon time, there lived a fair maid who possessed the most unruly hair in all the Kingdoms of the Earth.  This maid did so desire to have hair that was kempt and adorned with lovely bangs, or fringe, if you will.

But alas, our fair heroine (for she 'twas unnaturally pale) did live in a strange foreign land with strange customs.  She knew that this could not be done alone, so she did ask a good friend for all the advice and help that she would need for her quest.  She learned the words she needed in that strange and foreign tongue and committed them to heart.

Then one fine day, she did set off to the hairdresser's salon, a place which held the promise of beauty and youth.  She told the friendly hairdresser what she did desire and they did agree that perhaps sidebangs would be better.  And then she began to cut.  And cut.  And cut.

But our heroine was not disheartened.  She happily clung the belief that everything would be alright even as curlers were placed onto her head and she was delicately placed under the toaster.

And then the curlers were removed and the hair was tousled and sprayed...

AND WHEN IT WAS ALL OVER....

WHAT THE WHAT

I DON'T EVEN

WHAT

ARE THESE BANGS?!

Pointless question really, because now I look like:

Nothing like arriving to class with
Shirley Temple hair to command
the respect and love of your students.

Clearly, something went terribly wrong.

Luckily, my housemates are good sports (by the way, thanks Mom, for the text "LOL" after I sent you a selfie) and Ilva tried to figure out how to part my hair so it doesn't look terrible.  (YES, when I first came home before those pics above were snapped, it was WORSE)

The real question is, what will it look like tomorrow after the curler-magic has disappeared and my normal wave texture is back?

Who knows, friends?  But you definitely will be seeing some hair experiments in the future!  Either that or hats.

Lots and lots of hats.

Lots of Love,
